The DVD side contains Dolby Digital and DTS 96/24 surround versions of the music. "Mortuos Plango, Vivos Voco (1980)" commissioned by the Centre Pompidou, Paris. Recorded in an 8-track spatialized format at the Institut de Recherche et de Coordination Acoustique / Musique (IRCAM). 4.0 Surround Remix at EMI Abbey Road Studios, 15/04/08. Technologies used included the MusicV software (IRCAM, originally developed by Max Matthews and CHANT voice synthesis software developed by Gerald Bennett and Xavier Rodet. 4.0 surround remix at EMI Abbey Road Studios, 15/04/08. "Chronometer (1971)" realized at Electronic Music Studio (EMS), London using the Musiys system developed by Peter Grogono (software), David Cockerell (hardware/interfacing) and Peter Zinovieff (system design and operation). Three versions of "Chronometer" are thought to have been made: an eight-track master (possibly on 2 four-track 1/2" tapes), a 4-track quadrophonic concert tape (as played at the première of the piece, an all-electronic concert of EMS pieces at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, on 24 April 1972) and a downmix to stereo 1/4" tape, which was subsequently released on the LP [r=1559264 (Argo ZRG 790) in 1975. The master for the current release was the 4-track 1/2" quadrophonic tape as played in 1972. Analogue tape transfer and restoration at EMI Abbey Road Studios, 22/02/08. "Temazcal (1984)" realized at the Royal College of Music, London, at that tme mostly a hybrid/analogue electroacoustic studio. The quadrophonic tape part was originally recorded on 2" eight-track analogue tape and later transferred to four-track 1/4" tape using DBX noise reduction. Around 1991 the composer decided to transfer the tape part to the digital domain through an early Digidesign Protools system at 16 bit/44.1 kHz. The current recording was based on the original Protools sound files which were unsampled to 24 bit / 96 kHz. The percussion part was recorded through a pair of high resolution Sennheiser MKH800 microphones. 4.0 surround recording at EMI Abbey Road Studios, 14/04/08. 4.0 surround mastering at EMI Abbey Road Studios, 15/04/08. "Nunu Wadudu (2008)": this surround remix is based on various earlier versions of "Nunu" which was originally made for the 2003 La Bâtie Festival in Geneva. The live arrangements were composed for the 2004 South Bank Ether Fastival. This recording uses the live arrangement as captured on 17 June 2004 at the Concertgebouw, Bruges, supplemented by material from the concert on 7 September 2006 at Cité de la musique, Paris. 4.1 surround mastering at EMI Abbey Road Studios, 15/04/08.
